pH levels:  6.0 - 7.5                                       Soil: deep, moist to well-drained, Prefers loams with consistent moisture

Sun: Full sun to partial shade                        (Intolerant of extended drought) 

Fall color: red to purple                                Tolerate: Flood, disease and insect tolerant. 

Flowering: white/flat clusters in May to early June   Fruits: Fruit ripens in September/October and will hold on all winter. 

Uses: wildlife food and cover, host plant for Azure butterflies and food plant for many butterflies. Used for stream bank stabilization, erosion control on low/moist ground, hedge or a windbreak. 

Note: Transplants easily. Edible berries.

Planting tips:  As a hedge where a medium/tall screen is desired, plant 2 rows 2 feet apart with staggered spacing or 1 row with 1 foot spacing.
