Sun: full sun (preferred) - partial shade Tolerate: deer, air pollution, salt spray, soil salt (Intolerant to drought)
Flowering Dates: April-June Seed Dispersal Dates: September-April
Uses: Hardy, dense draping branches good for windbreak, screen, farm odor blocker, large hedge in large-scale landscapes. More tolerant to deer than pines, good wildlife cover. Cones are favored by Red-breasted Nuthatch.
Note: Prefers cool summer climates and often grows poorly south of USDA Zone 7.
